We had one of the best Halloweens ever this year. Last year, Katie had pneumonia and Chris had the H1N1 virus, so Halloween was more of a chore than a celebration. This year, however, made up for last.
For starters, we had perfect trick-or-treating weather. The night was nippy and breezy with a thick grey cloud cover but no rain. Katie wore her Hermione costume from last year since she didn't get to use it then. Abby wanted to be a lion, so Grandma dug out the lion's head she made (circa 1979) for Uncle Adam. Zach wanted to be Batman again, since he had all the cool gear he got last Christmas from Unlce Adam.
Best of all, we had a community event in the park behind our house. We had hayrides, popcorn and cider, a haunted house, hot cocoa and several campfires. The festivities went on for four hours and the turnout was amazing. The kids had a blast and so did we.

I remember Adam as the Cowardly Lion!! And you as the tin man and your sister as an ADORABLE Dorothy. You all always had the coolest costumes. I confess I'm partial to the Hermione costume, Katie makes the perfect Hermione.
My mom recently offered to dig up my old clown costume for Ellie (I went as a clown for a couple years), but Ellie decided to create her own clown personality the way she'd been taught at "circus camp" last summer. Way cooler :-)
