Cassidy Turns 16

It's hard to believe that it's been sixteen years since this photo was taken.  As has started to become a tradition, Cassidy and I went to a concert of her choice for her birthday.  This year's pick:  Christina Perri at the Newport.  Standing room only.  For you out-of-towners, the Newport is a pretty cool place to go when you're young and don't mind sticky floors, no seats, and very close quarters.  (It also happens to be where Chris and I got engaged.)  It's an old theater -turned-run-down-rock-venue.

Because it's just not that cool to hang with your Aunt in a place like this,  Cassidy invited her friend Courtney along and they had a great time.  I scored some major bonus points when I agreed to let the girls stand on the floor without me.  Naturally, I hovered nearby the whole night, watching like a hawk, periodically requiring them to check in via text, which they did without fail.

Cassidy - You are an amazing young woman and I am so proud to be your Aunt.  Thanks for letting me share your birthday with you.  I hope I'm always cool enough to tag along once in a while... ; )

My bribe for letting the girls "loose" at the concert.

Waiting in line outside.  No, I have no idea what's up with my hair.

This was Perri's last night touring.  This publicity photo above was taken during the last encore Sunday night.  (On a personal note, you know you've hit the big time when your employer has a permanent billboard in the Newport across from the Bud Light banner.)
