On Saturday, both my Girl Scout troops hosted booths at our local bi-annual GS International Festival.
Katie's troop represented Turkey while Abby's troop represented New Zealand.
While the girls had fun and learned a lot, here's what I learned:
1. Leading two Girl Scout troops while working and raising three children is insane.
2. Turkish Delight is not as easy to make as it first appears.
3. Parents asked to cut up said Turkish Delight and return the clean pans will, in fact, return dirty pans in plastic bags.
4. Five hours is a long time to expect fourth graders to sit making change.
5. Parents will think nothing of showing up at said festival (with 700 people in attendance) and wisk their child off in the middle of the event without letting you know they've taken them. After you've searched the building frantically for their child, they will then be annoyed when you call to ask if they have their daughter.
6. There is no limit to the number of times a child can complain about hunger. There is also no limit to the number of parents who will drop off their child for an all-day event without having given them breakfast or packing them a lunch.
