We took the kids bowling this afternoon and had a blast. The place we usually go to didn't have open bowling, so we tried a place Chris hadn't been to since 1978. Despite its seedy exterior, we decided to give it a try, and found a real gem. (For you fellow Stonehamites, feels a lot like the old Sunlite Alleys.) Despite it's outward appearance, it was clean, the music rocked, and the place felt downright homey.
By the second game, Zach had perfected his stride. He starts back by the hand drier carrying a 6 pound ball in front of his chest. Then, running full speed at the lane, he drops to his knees (still carrying the ball) and slides about a foot and a half before releasing the ball down the lane. Since his lane had bumpers, he usually hit something. No matter how many pins went down, he'd jump up with a big grin on his face and hop on one foot back to his seat.
